Product Review; " If you're not familiar, Pelican makes professional-tier multipurpose cases, and they are known for being one of the best, but also one of the most expensive. The #1600 is probably considered a mid-range storage case in terms of size - even accounting for a bit of space for protective foam, you could store even a large production camera (which can be almost the size of a microwave), or lighting fixtures and accompanying AV equipment (which is what I bought it for). If bought new, this luggage can price close to $300, so I opted to look on EBay, and managed to find one for only about $80, even though it was without foam, and the exterior had some scratches, it is and has been a spectatularly strong, compact and easy to carry box for the 3 or so years I've owned it. The design of all pelican cases is scientificly engineered to be as crushproof as possible, pelicans have survived plane crashes, and also double as a floatation device. The latches are made from a super dense plastic which latch firmly closed with a click, and theres even two small (quarter inch) (metal reinforced) holes for looping a lock through. But that being said, considering the entire case is made from a plastic, it is not very impervious to melting in a fire (or even by intruders with blowtorches). If you have belongings which are of critical importance, traveling or just for home storage, the Pelican 1600 is one of the best all-around mid range storage cases I can reccommed !" -MadeInUSAReview
