I understand the name "safety" pin, being that the sharp point is tucked into a small enclosure, but still beware of keeping safety pins attached to clothing on your body, all it needs is an accidental squeeze and the pointy end can pop out and potentially poke you - definitely not recommended for use around children. While shopping for some US-made pins I came across Scovill's Pintique products - they are clearly very vintage, but still in great condition, and have a thickness and attention to detail that you don't commonly find in modern safetypins. I've seen a wide variety of unique colors (like turqoise and my favorite, brass) and a few varying sizes still being sold online, so if you're looking for a strong, sharp, and American made safety pin, check out the links posted above while supplies still remain.
