The sheets are lined with evenly space (except for the hheader spacing), uncolored rows, and the paper is thick enough so ink doesn't bleed-through. The dimmed off-white hue still constrasts great with pencil and pen writing, its obviosly not the brightest whitest paper and that (very) subtle muttled / beige petina that almost looks weathered - gives the pages a more personal, informal aura that lends itself to jotting quick ideas, and brainstorming strategies. I've heard people say the binding is quite firm, and it may not sit in the open position so easily, but its not something that was of considerable note to me personally. I think most people look for a notebook journal that is solidly built, so as to store those important scribbings years later - but it must also be quite affordable (so that wasting sheets and filling sections doesnt feel like a pricey frivolence), and I believe Shinola notebooks are just that - astounding quality and a surprising pricetag !" -MadeInUSAReview
