Because these are "toothed" blades, sharpening is difficult if not impossible at the consumer level, so it's easier to recycle the old one and replace it with a new sharp sawblade. These High-Carbon Tempered Steel manage to be surprisingly strong, and will chew through tons of wood, plastic or metal before wearing out - as long as attention is paid so not to apply too much bending pressure, which can break them quickly. I picked up a 4 pack on EBay for about $12 in total, and I got great use out of them, cutting everything from hardwood for minor carepntry repairs, to tree small stumps and branches for landscaping. Finding an affordable US manufacturer of steel consumable tools is becoming more difficult everyday, and I'm not even sure Stanley is still manufacturing these new (they don't seem to be listed in the same pages of all their other stocked products), but search around and these are still available to buy elsewhere. Grab your Handsaw of choice, load it up with these fine blades, and get work making in USA ! " -MadeInUSAReview
