" The Mini M buckling spring keyboard has the same mechanism, feel and general layout as the original IBM Model M (SSK) keyboard. With the much-loved buckling spring key design these keyboards have been prized by computer enthusiasts and robust typists because of the tactile and auditory feedback of each keystroke. Manufactured in Lexington, Kentucky, our buckling spring keyboard is a durable, audible keyboard with a gorgeous finish and solid feel reminiscent of the classic IBM Model M family of keyboards. Within the reviews and community, there is quite a lot of contention - some are satisfied with the style of buckling mechanical keys and the upgraded USB-A port (so you can easily swap cables if that gets broken), while others are viemently complaining that the keys have a bad tendency to lock / stick, instead of being a smooth action in each keypress. I can totally see both sides, on one hand the keycaps feel great (in that nostalgically chonky retro way where everything feels big, solid, and slides with a tactile thunk), but on the other hand, I too have felt the occasional key-sticking lock up (where the key jams at an angle and doesn't depress correctly), and that (though rare) is unacceptable. Unicomp has a difficult mission, being one of the only PC keyboard manufacturers left in the USA (their product's price really reflects that this is no cheap chinesium), and they have had success by holding to what works - but the thing with that is, maintaining the complete retro feel means leaving out many modern advancements that have objectively improved the quality of using these typing devices, and if that's something that you're okay with, then I imagine you will really enjoy this modern, newly manufactured retro 90s keyboard, but you may have to make some serious compromises and changes to your expectations if you're looking for a PC input tool with all the most upgraded amenities and features.
