I bought my set on EBay, they were expensive, and shipping was costly, but good weights are never cheap, and shipping heavy things was just a necessary evil (as I wasn't able to drive to pick them up in person). If you been to a gym in the past decade, you're familiar with the adjustable weight system where you simply remove and insert a small piece with metal rods to select the desired weight level - and PowerBlock has incorporated that mechanism well here - with magnetic attachment points so the adjustment rods wont slip, as well as a wrist strap, to keep the adjustment rod anchoredto you. The weight levels are denoted with bright saturated colors, but no actual numbers - theres a color level legend on top, so you know which is which, but only on some models, on some the levels are denoted on a seperate sheet of paper, which I find ridiculous. The other only gripe I have is that this first version of The Block was somewhat clanky, the weight plates would knock together and make a bit of noise, and accidents are entirely possible when changing weight levels (due to improper adjustment rod insertion), which could possibly lead to injury, a problem which just couldn't occur on non-adjustable dumbbells, so be aware. This first model went to 45 pounds each, and they have upgraded to newer USA version to 90 pounds each, so if that's important to you it may be worth seeking out the newest model - either way this discontinued Block can still be found on used-goods sites with realitive ease and affordability (all things consdiered) - and I still highly recommend The Block frequently to people, it's really helped me to implrove my health, strength, and keeping fit is a great way to prevent future injury !" -MadeInUSAReview
