Plus I really feel like an authentic chef wielding this massive ladle, and maybe a cooking apron and one of those big white poofy hats for ultimate kitchen cosplay. I have somewhat grown out of using plastic utensils for cooking (worried about leeching chemicals into food, and the inevitable microscopic particles that come off as the spoon is scraped up and worn down over the years), but that's obviously not a concern to everyone, so you make that decision. In terms of a reliable and sturdy soup ladle, this is kind of the quintessential one I think of - I'm not sure if Rubbermaid manufactures a similar product in modern times, but they're still available for cheap in like new condition from online stores.
