This reduction in vitamin-D, as well as the negative effects on peoples circadian rythms, can lead to a feeling of lower energy, or even a slight depression. A great solution to this are these full-spectrum (bright white light) therapy devices - the answer to a season without much sun it -believe it or not- a light that simulates the sun. This light was perfect for keeping a room bright and "sunny" during the dark drab fall / winter months. Not too bright (I've seen other SAD lights that put out 10,000 kelvin and it's just blindingly overpowering), the bulb gives off a luninence that is still comfortable to sit directly in front of (with sunglasses or just eyelids shut tightly). The fixture is mountable on included metal legs, or in my case I hanged it from an S-hook above a doorway, to fill the whole room.
