" Oneida Limited is an American manufacturer and seller of tableware and cutlery. Oneida is one of the world's largest designers and sellers of stainless steel and silverplated cutlery and tableware for the consumer and foodservice industries. It is also the largest supplier of dinnerware to the foodservice industry in North America.[1] The company operates in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, and Asia, marketing and distributing tabletop products, which include flatware, dinnerware, crystal stemware, glassware and kitchen tools and gadgets. The factory in upstate NY was sold to Liberty Tabletop, who is the sole manufacturer of US made flatware.[2] The company originated in the late-nineteenth century in the Oneida Community in Oneida, New York. When I moved across country I had very little in the way of cooking utensils, so I found this affordable set of Stainless Steel Knives, Forks, Salad Forks, and Soup Spoons - they did the job perfectly for years until I decided to upgrade to Sterling Silver versions (which are a lot more expensive, but a lot more shiny, especially when polished with a Silver Polishing Cloth). Oneida had a huge line of American made silverware, made here in their upstate NY factory, but as of recent decades, the company has been absorbed and is now just a subsidiary, and most of the stock you find being sold is just imports masquerading under the parroted name "oneida", with essentially no connection to it's former quality, or the American people who supported and built up the company to begin with. For the most part though, flatware is flatware, they're all going to do basically the same thing, so what you should focus on (in my opinion) is where the money is going, and who benefits - and it should be the American peoples, because the US would've never had the prosperity we had, if everytime we sat down to dinner, we ate from someone elses spoon." -MadeInUSAReview
