These are the slightly larger variety, can easily trap the largest rat with it's strong kill bar and a trigger-pedal which is super sensitive to touch, but still manages to hold firm, and isn't likely to trigger at an improper moment. Actually setting and placing them can be finicky, especially if you get your fingers snapped and start getting frustrated like I did - but once set (and baited with something rats / mice enjoy), they are sure to do the trick eventually. These are used by professional exterminators as well as in family households, though they are probably not considered toddler-friendly (the baby wont be happy, but really its just a strong pinch). For applications where very young children or pets are present, Victor makes enclosed traps (though those are more expensive and, in my opinion, don't work as well).
